Roshn Saudi League 2024-25: Al Taawoun, Al Nassr, Al Wehda Drama

"Debut thrills and dramatic draws mark the opening weekend of the 2024-25 Roshn Saudi League, with Cristiano Ronaldo hitting his 50th league goal while Al Taawoun and Al Riyadh grab late points."

Al Taawoun 1-0 Al Fayha

A precise delivery from Faycal Fajr on his Al Taawoun debut secured Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s team all three points, as Abdulfattah Adam's header consigned Al Fayha to a late defeat in Buraidah, marking the start of the 2024-25 Roshn Saudi League.

Al Fayha's Fashion Sakala had a prime chance to score within seven minutes at Al Taawoun Club Stadium. Set up by Nawaf Al Harthi’s through ball just past midfield, Sakala’s shot was too central, allowing Al Taawoun goalkeeper Mailson to save it.

With nine minutes remaining, the hosts were reduced to 10 men as Ibrahim Al Shuail received a red card for stomping on Ali Al Hussain, just 22 minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Arruabarrena countered the numerical disadvantage by substituting Musa Barrow for new signing Fajr. The Moroccan playmaker then delivered a perfect cross from a set-piece on the right, enabling fellow substitute Abdulfattah Adam to secure the win with a powerful header five minutes into added time. This goal was the first of the new RSL season.

These three points give Al Taawoun a promising start as they prepare to travel to Jeddah to face last season’s fifth-placed Al Ittihad. Meanwhile, Christos Kontis’ Al Fayha faces a challenging match when they host Al Nassr in their next game, eager to kickstart their campaign.
